Renewal of PYRN leadership

By Hugues Lantuit - Posted on 21 July 2008

Dear PYRN members,
As most of you know, PYRN was created in 2005 and progressively increased its membership to reach 545 members as of today. PYRN has been managed by a steering group of three young researchers (Hugues Lantuit, Margareta Johansson and Oliver Frauenfeld) and developed a series of services and activities that are all featured on the PYRN website.
The organization is now strong and needs strong leadership to continue providing adequate services to its members. We are therefore seeking members to step up and get involved in the PYRN leadership. To do so, we are calling for expressions of interests to participate in the steering group and leading PYRN over the next two years. The three of us will stay on the steering group for a given period of time until the newly chosen steering group can take over and run PYRN by itself. Hugues Lantuit will use his capacity as IPA secretary to further support PYRN in maintaining its website and provide administrative support.
As part of the expression of interest we will request some basic biographical information (Name, Institution, research theme), a statement on the vision of PYRN’s future, and potential new ideas and plans for PYRN (Everything should hold in a page). If you intend to apply to participate in the steering group, please send us such a description of your views by mid-September. We will then examine all applications and decide on the composition of the future steering group.
Given the international nature of PYRN, we will strive to establish a steering group with an appropriate balance of gender and countries and our choice will be guided by excellence and motivation.
We will get back to you during the second half of September with these results.
Hugues, Margareta and Oliver.
