The International Institute for Sustainable Development’s Circumpolar Young Leaders Program (CYL) is very pleased to announce a new distance learning course:Live, Learn and Lead -Leadership and Sustainable Development in the Circumpolar North to be run from March 9th – 23rd 2011 for youth ages 19-30 from the Circumpolar North. As a Pilot Course, IISD is waving the $250 registration fee and will recognize all participants who complete the course and provide feedback on content and functionality with credit in future versions for having helped to develop it.
What You Will Get Out of the Course:
• A strong understanding of Sustainable Development particularly as it pertains to Arctic Issues and the Circumpolar North;
• An in depth understanding of a key Arctic Issue that is of specific Interest to you;
• Ideas and tools for Leading and Managing Change both in your personal life and in the larger world around you;
• Strategies for planning and having real impact in your work;
• The opportunity to become part of a network of young people interested in and working on Arctic Issues;
• Experience in providing feedback on an e-learning platform and your name as a contributor in future courses.

Time Commitment: 12-15 hours of facilitated online learning time
Eligibility: be not younger than 19 and not older than 30 years of age, be originally from or living in the Arctic Region(Northern Territories of Canada, Russia, Greenland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, United States, or Iceland) have graduated from High School, have a strong interest in circumpolar affairs and issues, have access to a computer with internet connection, and have strong oral and written communication skills in English.

The course will be run with a maximum of 25 participants who will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
