A few changes have appeared in the organization and main aims of first PYRN-Russia workshop.
1. Event: PYRN in Russia: From Frozen to Thawed State.
2. Date and place: October 23-25, 2009; Puschchino (Moscow Region).
3. Workshop theme: The contemporary state of scientific collaboration between young permafrost researchers from Russia and those from other countries is obviously unsatisfactory but at the same time it is highly perspective and extremely necessary for both sides.
4. Aims of the event: The main focus of the workshop is to estimate the possibilities and ways of PYRN development in Russia and Russian contribution to PYRN. We expect maintenance of existing interactions between Russian and foreign young permafrost researchers and exploration of new ones in order to increase the activity of international scientific cooperation.
We expect that this workshop will be the example of informal meeting of permafrost researchers of different ages that will help young ones to get involved into international scientific community.
5. Requirements: Participant's talk should not exceed 10-15 minutes and should present the most interesting, useful, new or exciting sides of their research as if it is the only chance to promote their investigation or to join the perspective project.
6. Plenary reports: Plenary talks will give the bright example of scientific value and life experience combination.
7. Bonuses (grants and prizes): Few travel grants will be available for young participants and honorable mentors (those from Moscow should not rely on it). Those participants and mentors who want to apply for the travel grant will have to provide the short CV and estimate travel expenses.
Every participant will get the precious experience and useful pieces of advice from our honorable mentors.
The most outstanding participants will be marked by special prizes from our sponsors.
Organization Committee is hopefully waiting for your e-mails at a.lupachev@gmail.com
